How Scoring Works
You predict the score of every knockout game — from the Round of 32 all the way to the Final (plus the 3rd-place play-off). Each game is worth up to 4 points, and points are awarded as soon as the real result is recorded.
Points per game
- +2 points — you correctly pick the team that goes through (the winner of the tie).
- +1 point — for each team's score you get exactly right. That's up to +2 if you nail both scores.
Maximum per game: 4 points (2 for the winner + 1 + 1 for both scores).
The important rules
- Scores are judged at 90 minutes (after normal time). If a game is level after 90 and decided by extra-time or penalties, the team that progresses still counts for your winner point — but the score we check is the 90-minute score.
- The exact-score points are awarded per team. Even in later rounds — where which teams reach a game depends on who actually advanced — if you named the right team for a side of the tie and got its exact score, you bank that +1, regardless of who you had as the opponent. So predicting A 5–0 B when it's really X 5–0 B still earns the point for getting B's 0.
- The +2 winner point goes to picking the right winner — even from a wrong match-up. As long as you put the team that actually wins the tie on the winning side, you bank the bonus, whoever you had as their opponent. (A drawn tie has no winner, so the +2 for a draw still needs both teams right.)
- Games without a result yet show “TBC” instead of a points total, so a 0 always means you genuinely missed out rather than the result not being in yet.
Worked examples
Say the real result is Brazil 2 – 1 Croatia, Brazil to advance:
- You predicted Brazil 2 – 1 Croatia → 4 pts (winner + both scores).
- You predicted Brazil 3 – 1 Croatia → 3 pts (winner + Croatia's score).
- You predicted Brazil 1 – 0 Croatia → 2 pts (winner only).
- You predicted Croatia 1 – 0 Brazil → 0 pts (wrong winner, no exact scores).
- You predicted Brazil 2 – 0 Argentina → 3 pts: wrong opponent, but you still picked Brazil to win (+2) and got Brazil's 2 exactly right (+1).
- You predicted Argentina 4 – 1 Croatia → 1 pt: Argentina didn't win this tie so there's no winner point, but you still got Croatia's 1 exactly right.
The league table
Your total points are the sum across every game. The table also breaks out how many correct winners and correct team scores you've racked up. Most total points wins — simple as that.
